Holy Bull Starts Florida's Triple Crown Trail : The withdrawal of Boys At Tosconova leaves a wide open field of nine sophomores to contest the $400,000 Holy Bull Stakes (gr. III) at Gulfstream Park Jan. 30, the first major step toward the Florida Derby (gr. I) this spring.
The race, a one-turn mile, is the 10th on the Gulfstream card with a 5:26 p.m. EST starting time. It is part of a program that includes the $200,000 Forward Gal Stakes (gr. II) for 3-year-old fillies, part of a big stakes weekend at the south Florida track.
Boys at Tosconova, expected to be the favorite in the the Holy Bull, was withdrawn a day before the Jan. 27 draw due to trainer Rick Dutrow Jr.'s concerns about the colt's readiness. But what remains is a solid field that includes stakes-tested colts such as Mucho Macho Man, Gourmet Dinner, and Major Gain, as well as some highly anticipated newcomers, led by Dialed In and the fast-improving Black N Beauty.
Of those mentioned, only Ahmed Zayat's Black N Beauty, an Ontario-bred son of Devil His Due   that cost just $2,500 as a 2009 Keeneland September yearling, has raced during the young Gulfstream meet.
Black N Beauty won impressively Jan. 7 in a first-level allowance at one mile by 2 1/2 lengths while leading all the way under Kent Desormeaux for his second straight win. Romans knows that Black N Beauty, who drew post 4 and is ridden once more by Desormeaux, is facing a tough group in the Holy Bull. “You’ve got Gourmet Dinner and Kathy Ritvo’s horse (Mucho Macho Man) -- they’re pretty nice horses, and they’re pretty even after that,” he said.

There are the widely disparate events — representing, in a sense, the highbrow and lowbrow of track and field — clattering along the curved wooden track of the Garden, a techno beat thumping all the while in the background.
Chief among them in recent years has been Bernard Lagat, who has won the Wanamaker Mile, the meet’s marquee event, a record eight times.
But he failed Friday to capture his ninth, losing to Deresse Mekonnen, a 23-year-old Ethiopian and the current world indoor champion, who finished in 3 minutes 58.58 seconds.
Lagat led for the first seven laps of the 11-lap race before Mekonnen overtook him. Lagat made three furious passing attempts in the last two laps — his gold chain swaying against his purple top — but fell short, finishing in 3:59.01.
“The straightaways are just that small,” Lagat said, holding his index fingers in front of his face. “He held his position.”
The race served as a tense, scintillating coda to an otherwise whimsical night.
Ashton Eaton won the Millrose Multi Challenge, a quirky event created this year to bring together three of America’s best decathletes. His scores for the three challenges — the shot-put, 60-meter hurdles and high jump — were enough to beat Trey Hardee, the gold medalist at the 2009 world championships, and Bryan Clay, the gold medalist at the Beijing Olympics.
“There was a lot of nervousness in this young man, because the competition that I faced,” Eaton said. “But there’s a lot of fight in this young man.”
The women’s 60-meter hurdles featured Queen Harrison, 22, a native of Loch Sheldrake, N.Y., who was named the top female collegiate track and field athlete in the country last year and has generated much buzz this season.
But Harrison struggled off the blocks, and it was Vonette Dixon, 35, a veteran hurdler from Jamaica, who prevailed with a time of 8 seconds. Harrison finished in 8.19 seconds for fourth place.
“My speed is not quite there, because I’ve been working on my strength,” Harrison said.

In an interesting partnership, Nickelodeon has teamed up with Facebook and aired tonight’s brand new episode of everyone’s favorite SpongeBob Squarepants one day early on Facebook. Although premiered on television for the first time tonight on Nickelodeon, the first episode of a five part series called Legends of Bikini Bottom premiered on the social networking site last night. Guest stars include Amy Sedaris (Ma Angler) who plays the leader of the clan of trenchbillies, and Ginnifer Goodwin (as Mermaid).  The clan hold SpongeBob and his buddy Patrick captive while they are out jellyfishing one day.
This was big news in our household. At 8pm, the kids sat awaiting the new episode. In case they missed it, they set it to record on DVR earlier today. A new SpongeBob episode is big news in our home, and apparently in a lot of other places. While the show is funny, really funny, I didn’t realize how much it appealed to the older kids, but it must if Facebook got the first glimpse. Surely, they don’t think that 5 or 6 year-olds have Facebook accounts?SpongeBob’s Facebook page has over 16 million fans alone. My 13-year-old still loves SpongeBob and his quirky underwater friends and I have to admit that the show makes me laugh a lot. It’s one of those unique blends that appeal to kids and parents.
Yet with such a large following, just having the ability to draw in viewers using Facebook suggests that it has a very large fan base of older teens and possibly adults. Kids aren’t officially allowed to have their own Facebook accounts until age 13, but I’m sure a lot of moms will let their younger ones watch the episode on their accounts. Kids as young as preschoolers know what Facebook is, especially since so many moms make checking their Facebook account a daily activity.
These social networking sites are not only gaining attention from users, many of whom are parents, but it seems they are now be marketed specifically to parents (and possibly kids). The show, launched by Stephen Hillenburg almost 12 years ago has roughly 70-million viewers monthly. It remains one of the most popular shows on MTV Networks’ history, and generates more than $8-billion in worldwide retail sales.

NASA Marks 25th Anniversary of the Challenger Disaster: According to the internet Media, NASA is remembering three major tragedies in its history this week, starting with the 25th anniversary of the explosion of the Space Shuttle Challenger on Friday.
"This year marks the 25th anniversary of the loss of the Challenger—a tragedy that caused us to completely rethink our systems and processes as we worked to make the shuttle safer," NASA Administrator Charles Bolden said in an AFP reportAlong with deputy administrator Lori Garver, Bolden honored the lives of those lost in Apollo 1 and space shuttles Challenger and Columbia by laying a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia Thursday morning.
"The nation will never forget Jan. 28, 1986, nor its indelible images," Bolden added.
Challenger's entire crew was killed when the shuttle exploded just 73 seconds after its launch, 46,000 feet in the air. The explosion was broadcast on live television.

If you cut it off, that leads to a philosophical question: Who got cut off from the Internet, us or the rest of the world?"
In fact, there are few countries anywhere with all their central Internet connections in one place or so few places that they can be severed at the same time. But the idea of a single "kill switch" to turn the Internet on and off has seduced some American lawmakers, who have pushed for the power to shutter the Internet in a national emergency.

Refer to the winning percentage and conference finals above and then go ask a Clippers, Timberwolves, Bobcat or even a Knicks fan if they'd be happy to trade their last seven seasons for the Suns' seasons. Most of those teams' fans would trade those seven seasons, their team owner and their first born for what Phoenix has seen.
That isn't to say things are perfect for the Suns. Sarver has had his fair share of issues including trading draft picks, firing coaches, and changing front office personnel. But is it really enough to foster the disdain, hatred and contempt that fans seem to have for him?
The answer is no, but I have a theory as to why he's fallen so far out of favor with Suns' fans. I like to call it the Ted McGinley Conundrum.

June Scobee Rodgers, the widow of Cmdr. Dick Scobee, will be one of many speakers honoring her husband and the members of his crew.
The ceremony is taking place in front of The Space Mirror Memorial. This memorial lists the names of 24 U.S. astronauts who lost their lives while exploring space.
The seven lives were lost in the Challenger explosion: Dick Scobee, commander; Michael J. Smith, pilot; Ellison Onizuka, mission specialist; Judy Resnik, mission specialist; Ron McNair, mission specialist; Gregory Jarvis, payload specialist; and Christa McAuliffe, payload specialist and teacher.
This mission was to take the first teacher, Christa McAuliffe, up into space. Her widow, Steven McAuliffe, released a statement saying that his family finds it "comforting and inspirational" that people across the country continue to remember his wife and her Challenger crew members.

Last year's Academy Award nominations were contentious in some quarters — making room for 10 Best Picture nominees led to claims that some didn't belong there, while others argued that worthy pictures (everything from Star Trek to A Single Man) had been unfairly overlooked.
There will be less of a flap about this year's nominations, which went largely as expected this morning. Those 10 Best Picture slots went to 127 Hours, The Kids Are All Right, The King's Speech, Black Swan, The Social Network, Inception, The Fighter, Winter's Bone, Toy Story 3, and True Grit. Still, for a set of nominations that delivered so few surprises, they managed to do a reasonably good job of recognizing very fine films and actors.
The King's Speech led with 12 nominations, including major-category nods for its screenplay; actors Colin Firth, Helena Bonham Carter, and Geoffrey Rush; and its director, Tom Hooper. Behind it were True Grit with 10 nominations, and Inception and The Social Network, both with eight.
Also making a strong showing was the Boston boxing film The Fighter, which had seven nominations, all in prominent categories — three for its acting (Christian Bale, Melissa Leo, and Amy Adams, all in supporting categories — nothing for lead Mark Wahlberg), one for its screenplay, one for its director, and one for its editing, in addition to Best Picture.

Orange County Choppers’ HQ faces foreclosure The lender that financed Orange County Choppers‘ new headquarters in the Town of Newburgh has filed a foreclosure action against the builder of custom motorcycles, alleging that it missed its July mortgage payments.
Orange County Choppers has two mortgages through GE Commercial Finance Business Property Corp., one for $11 million and one for $1.5 million.
The foreclosure action claims that the Choppers missed mortgage payments of approximately $96,400 and $14,000 due on July 1.
The Choppers stopped making mortgage payments in order to put pressure on the lender to modify the terms of the loans, according to Choppers’ lawyer Richard Mahon. Mahon said that when the headquarters was built in 2007, it was valued at about $12 million. Because of the economic downturn, the building is now worth between $7 million and $8 million, he estimated.
“This is just a bump in the road,” Mahon said. “We believe the parties will reach a resolution and the headquarters will continue in this location.”
GE Commercial Finance spokesman John Oliver declined to answer questions about the suit, citing confidentiality.
“We worked very hard to try to come up with a better outcome, but in the end we had to make a business decision based on our agreement, and we did,” he said.

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bears eventually turned to Caleb Hanie after starting quarterback Jay Cutler went down with a knee injury, and the third-stringer led the Bears to two touchdown drives in a 21-14 loss to the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game.
"It's a lonely feeling to fight and go through training camp and everything else and get to this point and have an opportunity to get in the Super Bowl," Cutler said. "It's hard. [There were] so many shots we took earlier in the year and able to bounce back. [To be] in the situation we were and to have things happen like that, it's tough."e said he injured his knee on the second-to-last series of the first half. His status was in doubt leading up to the second-half kickoff with backup Todd Collins even taking warm-up tosses. But Cutler started the second half, throwing an incomplete pass in a three-and-out opening drive.
"We gave it a go that first series, but I really couldn't plant and throw. So they kind of pulled me," Cutler said.
Collins replaced Cutler on the Bears' next series and was ineffective, throwing four incomplete passes. Hanie checked in with 57 seconds remaining in the third quarter.

Caleb Hanie's Pack mentality: According to the internet Media, Maybe it's a good thing that the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers only meet in the playoffs every 70 years. These two storied franchises apparently don't bring out the best in each other - at least not in January.

Each team played one strong half of football, just not the same half. The Packers took the first, the Bears the second, and when it was all over, Green Bay had a 21-14 victory, the NFC title and a trip to the Super Bowl to face the Pittsburgh Steelers.

But the Packers were nearly derailed by a 25-year-old quarterback out of Colorado State with three years of NFL experience, most of it holding a clipboard. Caleb Hanie came this close to being able to drink free in Chicago for life when he rallied the Bears to two fourth-quarter touchdowns and very nearly forced the game into overtime.
"You don't expect to play on a day like this, but that's how it goes sometimes," Hanie said.
Two interceptions, one for a touchdown by Green Bay nose tackle B.J. Raji - "one of those 'oops' type of things," Hanie said - the other on fourth and five with 47 seconds remaining, ended the Bears' hopes. Still, his performance - 13 of 20, 153 yards, a touchdown and a 65.2 rating - got him a lot of praise from both locker rooms. Hanie understood perfectly well just how unusual that is for a losing quarterback.
"Throw two picks," he said. "That's the only time you're going to get congratulations [for that], when they don't expect you to do anything."

Jack LaLanne, whose obsession with grueling workouts and good nutrition, complemented by a salesman’s gift, brought him recognition as the founder of the modern physical fitness movement, died Sunday afternoon at his home in Morro Bay, Calif. He was 96. The cause was respiratory failure resulting from pneumonia, said his son Dan Doyle.
A self-described emotional and physical wreck while growing up in the San Francisco area, Mr. LaLanne began turning his life around, as he often told it, after hearing a talk on proper diet when he was 15.
He started working out with weights when they were an oddity, and in 1936 he opened the prototype for the fitness spas to come — a gym, juice bar and health food store — in an old office building in Oakland.
“People thought I was a charlatan and a nut,” he remembered. “The doctors were against me — they said that working out with weights would give people heart attacks and they would lose their sex drive.” But Mr. LaLanne persevered, and he found a national pulpit in the age of television.

Kim Richards is an alcoholic says her sister Kyle. In the finale of Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills, Kim Richards and Kyle got into a massive fight on the occasion of Taylor's birthday party.

The party which started off well ended up into an ugly fight. Kyle Richards was seen accusing Kim Richards for being alcoholic. She said Kim Rechards, "You are are alcoholic, liar and sick." Kim Richards bursted in tears. Kim and Kyle both were intoxicated with drinks and were fighting continuously.
As Kyle was constantly accusing Kim Richards for being alcoholic, Kim accused her of having charms for all the guys she has been dating. Kim Richards was hurt on public exposure of her being an alcoholic and Kyle left the party in tears too. Both once again met up in the Limo where Adrienne was seen trying to stop the fight. But it resulted in worse and Kyle was seen cursing Kim Richards saying she is 'an alcoholic,' 'delusional' and 'demented'. Later it was discovered that Kim Richards was sent to the rehab after the incident, Kyle has not been speaking a word and nothing till now is being said about Kim Richards being an alcoholic.

With a format that is well-beyond familiar by now, the injection of fresh blood via new judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez has amped up the watercooler talk for a show that some had predicted was on the decline. Despite fears that the show would stumble without the harsh guiding hand of departed go-to judge Simon Cowell, MTV News' , said instead of mourning the loss of King Cowell, he's praising the rise of Tyler.

"If anything, Steven Tyler's wacky addition proved that it's not a 'mean judge' that keeps me jazzed for 'Idol.' It's an unhinged one," said Cantiello about the entertaining, unpredictable shenanigans pulled out by Tyler in the first two nights of audition episodes this week. "Truth be told, I never realized how much I missed Paula [Abdul] last year. Tyler's colorful language, zany metaphors and deafening jangly man-jewelry was just the entertaining wild card the two-night premiere needed to give it a must-see facelift."

Cantiello was glad that the new trio, which also includes sole returning judge Randy Jackson, didn't fall into the same old "mean Simon" and "too-nice Paula" tropes. Lopez easily mixed Abdul's sweetness with an undercurrent of Cowell's honesty, while Tyler deftly pinwheeled between wacky Paula-isms amid stinging putdowns. And already he's delivered one of the season's top lines in his zinger to belcher Michael Perotto courtesy of "Tommy Boy": "Did you eat a lot of paint chips as a child?"

Kyle Richards, ‘Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills’ star, addressed the high drama shown on the season finale this week, calling it ‘unfortunate.’ But has she made amends with her sister?Life is full of hilarious contradictions. But it’s very seldom that we are treated to an entire group of acquaintances who embody the real essence of hypocrisy like the women on this particular show.
My favorite duality of all of the ‘Real Housewives’ shows is that, though these women have money and ‘class,’ they actually stoop pretty low in public and on camera. Such was the case in the finale episode of the Beverly Hills version.
The tension had been building between sisters Kim and Kyle Richards. Rather than allow cooler heads to prevail, they managed to get into it at a highfalutin rooftop party. It all began when Kyle marched over to see what her sister and another ‘House wife’ were arguing about.
