‘Dateline’ has new revelations in Brooke Wilberger murder  The family of Brooke Wilberger's killer is breaking their silence for the first time, opening up, about how they pieced together that their brother, Joel Courtney, was a murderer.
Courtney raped and killed the 19-year-old Oregon girl in May 2004. The most publicized murder in Oregon history was the focus of the latest Dateline.
Courtney's sister Dina recalled when her brother disappeared, during which time he abducted and killed Wilberger. He came back with a wild story.
"He walked through the door and announced kind of loudly, you'll never believe where I've been, " said sister Dina Courtney McBride. "I said okay, where were you? I was kidnapped, (he said). There were these guys. They had guns and knives and we were in the woods. It was rainy and cold and there was a girl there and we were hiding. And y'know there was blood and it was awful."
Meanwhile, Brooke Wilberger's family was frantic, trying to find her. "I said, where's Brooke?." said Cammy Wilberger, Brooke's mother.
"And he (her son) said what do you mean? You don't know? He goes, 'we don't know where she is.' I said 'Spence, don't tease me. What are you talking about?' And he said, 'no seriously mom. We can't find her and right then I had a chill go through my whole body.'"
Joel Courtney refused to speak with investigators, regarding the Wilberger disappearance. But Dina remembered when her mother visited him in jail and asked him, once and for all.
"Joel, did you do this?, " said Courtney McBride's mother, "and he said 'It's not really like it seems like and I'll never be held accountable.'"

This is some sort of cruel joke, but the IRS has announced a special Valentine’s Day gift to nearly 50 million tax filers: a delayed start to tax season. Because of the tax cut deal signed late in December, the IRS needs a little extra time to get ready. (It is with some irony that I note that the IRS is totally fine providing extensions for themselves, but a little less generous with taxpayers!)
Here’s who has to hold-off on filing:

I don’t know about you, but I get pretty confused by zodiac sign dates. I mean, the cutoffs from one sign to another can be super confusing. Couldn’t they have just been organized by month? Like, if you’re born in October, you’re a Libra. Enough said. Well, to make things more confusing, what if your sign has changed? No, there wasn’t some big astrological overhaul. Your sign has been changing since you were born. Apparently, it’s always changing. And apparently, everything we think we know about zodiac signs is wrong and there are new zodiac sign dates we should be following. Whoa.
According to astronomers (and I guess common sense, if you really think about it), the Earth is in a different spot in relation to the Sun than it was 3,000 years ago, when the study of astrology began and the zodiac signs were developed and assigned. The Earth’s equatorial alignment has changed over time, too! So, if the principles astrology was founded on have changed, don’t our signs also have to change and readjust? It makes sense.

LAS VEGAS (Dow Jones)--T-Mobile USA Chief Executive Philipp Humm, in just six months on the job, has managed to irk his major competitors as he works to turn around the nation's fourth-largest carrier.
Humm, in an interview at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, said the keys to T-Mobile USA's recovery include lowering the rate of customer defections and offering more value to customers in the form of affordable smartphones and price plans.
He also has to convince customers that T-Mobile's network is comparable to the next generation of wireless services being rolled out by his competitors. To that end, he brashly labeled his network "4G," even though it has been traditionally considered "3G."
The move damped Sprint Nextel Corp.'s (S) perceived lead in 4G and got T-Mobile USA into the game ahead of Verizon Wireless's next-generation network launch. AT&T Inc. (T) has opted to follow T-Mobile USA's lead and call both its current and upcoming upgraded network 4G.
"We like to challenge the way business is done," Humm said.

Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley weighed in on his brother's new gig Thursday, and reportedly scoffed at the suggestion that President Obama has installed a "Chicago mafia" in the White House.
The mayor's brother William Daley was named the new White House chief of staff by the president Thursday afternoon. During a press conference about after school programs, Mayor Daley told reporters he was "honored" that his brother would be playing such an important role in the White House.
"We are tired of partisan politics in Washington," the mayor said, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. "And that is the message. Let's get down to business, let's roll up our sleeves, lets' talk about after school programs, let's talk about technology, let's talk about jobs. And that's what he's [Bill Daley] going to get back to."

The latest battle over Walmart began a few months ago, when the world's largest retailer began its third push to breach the five boroughs with one of its big box stores. Since then, politicians, businessmen, labor unions, developers and activists have taken sides and begun launching attacks on each other.
But what of the Walmart shoppers in our midsts?
The Times took a trip to Seacaucus recently to, uh, caucus shoppers at a Walmart there who had driven in from the city to shop. In an admittedly unscientific survey, the paper asked a dozen such shoppers whether or not they would welcome a Walmart in the five boroughs, and the answer was a somewhat surprising "no" from half of them

IN the spacious den of James Caan’s home here, high above Los Angeles near the upper reaches of Benedict Canyon Drive, there’s not much evidence of his long career in the movies. A poster for “Rollerball” — a film he considers under-appreciated — hangs above a couch; nearby is an oil painting of a boxing match in bright primary colors, signed “Sylvester Stallone.”
Mr. Caan does own an exceedingly cool poster for “The Godfather,” the film that made him famous him at 32; designed for the Italian release, it reads “Il Padrino” in the familiar blocky lettering. To see it you need to walk out of the den, make a left and go into the guest bathroom, where it hangs above the sink.
