The Army Black Knights emerged from the SMU Mustangs’ backyard with their third-ever bowl win and first since 1985. The game was played in SMU’s stadium, but was named the Armed Forces Bowl, so it’s hard to tell who actually had home field advantage.

Army gave up yards like wild, but forced three turnovers and held two SMU drives to field goal attempts, both of which were booted astray. SMU QB Kyle Padron shot over 300 yards and two touchdowns, but also threw two picks and lost a strip-sack on the opening drive that Army returned for a touchdown. Zach Line contributed the run to SMU’s run-and-shoot, with his 103 yards somehow the game’s highest rushing total.
