STANFORD, Calif. -- Stanford athletic director Bob Bowlsby has met with the entire Orange Bowl-winning Cardinal football staff since the departure of coach Jim Harbaugh to the San Francisco 49ers on Friday.
Bowlsby is moving ahead in his search for Harbaugh's replacement, first determining who the internal candidates might be. Bowlsby said Saturday he has spoken with each member of the staff but wouldn't categorize any of the sessions as formal interviews.
"I've talked to the whole coaching staff a number of times over the last day," Bowlsby said.
President John Hennessy - on hand at Maples Pavilion to honor women's basketball coach Tara VanDerveer for her recent 800th victory - said the school would like to find Harbaugh's replacement soon but also work to hire the right person. National signing day the first week of February is approaching in a hurry and there is recruiting to be done.

BLACKSBURG Virginia Tech's loaded 2010 backfield will be down to just one proven tailback for the 2011 season after third-year sophomore Ryan Williams announced Sunday that he's leaving early for the NFL.
Williams took his time with the decision and considered returning to the Hokies for another season before finally following fellow Tech tailback Darren Evans, a fourth-year junior who said Thursday that he was turning professional.
"When they say you have the potential to be a first-rounder, that's something that's hard to pass up," Williams said in a school-released statement. He is widely projected to go no lower than the second round in April's draft. "This has been my dream since I was 6 and I've never wanted to do anything else."
Back in August, it seemed to be a foregone conclusion that Williams would leave after this season. He'd rushed for a school-record 1,655 yards and 21 touchdowns as a redshirt freshman in 2009. But then Williams partially tore a hamstring in Tech's third game of this season and missed the next four games.

Martin, Bettis and Faulk are among the NFL's top 10 leading rushers, and are eligible for the first time. Sanders and offensive tackle Willie Roaf also are eligible for the first time.
The other finalists are receivers Tim Brown, Andre Reed and Cris Carter; centre Dermontti Dawson; defensive ends Richard Dent, Charles Haley and Chris Doleman; defensive tackle Cortez Kennedy; and tight end Shannon Sharpe, along with NFL filmmaker Ed Sabol.
The 15 finalists, plus senior nominees Chris Hanburger and Les Richter will be considered for induction Feb. 5, the day before the Super Bowl. The enshrinement is in August.
Martin retired from the New York Jets as the No. 4 overall rusher with 14,101 yards in 11 seasons. One of the most consistent backs of his era, he ran for 1,000 yards in 10 straight seasons.
Bettis ranks fifth at 13,662 yards in 13 seasons, three for the Rams and a decade with the Steelers, with whom he won the 2006 Super Bowl in his final game.

SARAJEVO: Goran Bregovic, one of the most famous musicians in the Balkans, said he was planning to return to Sarajevo, which left almost 20 years ago on the eve of Bosnia's 1990s wars.
"In talks with Sarajevo officials, Brega (his nickname) said he intended to return with his family to his hometown where he would continue with his creative career," said a statement from Sarajevo mayor Alija Bahman's office.
Bregovic, 60, is planning to move to Sarajevo with his wife and three daughters, Fena news agency reported.
"This is the first time I am meeting a Sarajevo mayor and I am very happy for that," Bregovic was quoted as saying.
The Sarajevo-born musician and composer rose to international fame and acclaim after producing the soundtrack to Balkan director Emir Kusturica's award-winning 1995 film "Underground".

Good job Censors! Every time a film with a controversial subject is censored, the producers and directors have always spoken against the cuts asked for by the Censor Board. However, for a change, filmmakers are lauding the Board’s understanding in clearing No One Killed Jessica (NOKJ), Turning
30 and 7 Khoon Maaf without any deletions, albeit with ‘A’ ratings.
While Rajkumar Gupta’s NOKJ is based on the Jessica Lall case and Alankrita Shrivastava’s Turning 30 is about an independent female protagonist, Vishal Bhardwaj’s 7 Khoon Maaf is an adaptation of Ruskin Bond’s Susanna’s Seven Husbands, in which the lead actress kills her seven husbands, one by one. Given the nature of the subjects, there are a number of scenes and a lot of dialogue, which would have to be edited to get a ‘U/A’ or ‘U’ (Universal) rating. But the filmmakers chose to go with the ‘A’ rating.

Chinese box office takings surged 64 percent to 10.2 billion Chinese yuan ($1.5 billion) in 2010, although film officials say the figure still lags more developed markets and urged local filmmakers to make better movies that can compete with Hollywood blockbusters like "Avatar" and "Inception."
China's Film Bureau also said in a report issued late last week that the country added 313 movie theaters and 1,533 new screens last year, for a total of just over 6,200 screens.
The box office figures were boosted by the huge success of "Avatar." The James Cameron 3-D sci-fi epic was the biggest hit in China last year with a total take of $204 million. The top-grossing Chinese film in 2010 was the Feng Xiaogang summer earthquake epic "Aftershock," which earned $100 million. Jiang Wen's political satire "Let the Bullets Fly," released in December, was also a big local hit, with Chinese media saying its latest earnings have surpassed $75 million.
The Film Bureau, however, said the Chinese box office is still developing and urged local directors to improve the quality of their work.
