"Reese Witherspoon is engaged and the couple is extremely happy," her publicist confirmed.
No date has been fixed for the wedding, which will be the second for Reese, who earlier married Ryan Phillippe on June 5, 1999.
Reese and Ryan separated in October 2006 and were officially divorced on October 5, 2007. They have two children: a daughter named Ava Elizabeth, born September 9, 1999, and a son Deacon Reese, born October 23, 2003.
A romantic relationship between Reese and her Rendition co-star Jake Gyllenhaal is rumored to have been responsible for the breakdown of her first marriage, a fact that Reese denies.
